Chromebooks are simple machines, which makes most of their faults simple to fix: a cracked screen from a drop, keys that stopped working, a battery that no longer lasts the school day, or a charging port worn loose. Parts are usually affordable, so repairing one is often far cheaper than replacing it.
On the software side, most problems clear with the right reset, but a powerwash wipes anything that isn't synced to the Google account, so it's worth checking with us before you try one.

Is Your Chromebook Still Getting Updates?
Every Chromebook has an update expiry date, after which it stops receiving ChromeOS and security updates. Models released from 2019 onwards get about ten years of updates, older ones less. We check the date for your model first, so you don't spend money repairing a Chromebook that's about to stop being supported.
Memory on Chromebooks is soldered and storage usually is too, so they can't be upgraded the way many Windows laptops can. Where a model does have a replaceable drive, we'll tell you.
School or Work Chromebooks
A Chromebook issued by a school board or employer is managed by them: they control its settings, and a reset won't remove that management. For those, repairs usually go through the school or employer, and we'll tell you if that's the case rather than take it in.
Personal Chromebooks bought for school use are a different matter, and they're a large part of what we repair, especially in late summer.

Can a Chromebook screen be replaced?
Yes. Most Chromebook screens can be replaced, including touchscreens. Send us the model name from the bottom of the Chromebook and we'll confirm the part and the price before ordering.
Is it worth repairing a Chromebook?
Usually, if it's still within its update period and the repair is a screen, keyboard, battery or charging port. If it's near or past its update expiry date, we'll tell you that replacing it is the better use of the money.
My Chromebook won't turn on. What should I try?
Plug it into its charger for 30 minutes, then hold Refresh and press Power to do a hard reset. If it still shows nothing, or shows "ChromeOS is missing or damaged", message us. It may need a recovery or a hardware repair.
Will a powerwash delete my files?
It deletes everything stored only on the Chromebook, including the Downloads folder. Files in Google Drive and synced settings come back when you sign in. Check before you powerwash, or ask us to.
Can you upgrade a Chromebook's memory or storage?
Memory is soldered on Chromebooks, so it can't be upgraded. A few models have a replaceable drive; most don't. We'll tell you exactly what's possible on yours.
Do you repair school-issued Chromebooks?
Chromebooks owned and managed by a school board usually have to go back to the school for repair. Personal Chromebooks used for school, we repair.
