PC Tune-Up & Speed Optimization in Ottawa
A slow computer is usually a neglected one. A proper tune-up cleans it out, secures it, checks the hardware and backs up what matters.
From $40 · Free assessment · Home and small-business machines
Computers slow down for boring reasons: startup programs piling up, a nearly full drive, missed updates, browser junk and, increasingly, adware. Almost none of it is fatal, and almost all of it can be cleaned up in an hour or two.
Maintenance is also where we catch the failures on the way, like a drive reporting errors, a battery near the end or a fan clogged with dust, while there's still time to back up and fix them on your terms rather than in an emergency.
What a Tune-Up Covers
Startup and background clean-up
Cut the programs that launch at boot and run in the background, so it starts and responds faster.
Updates and drivers
Windows, security and driver updates applied properly so nothing is left exposed or half-installed.
Malware and adware check
A scan for the junk that makes browsers redirect and machines crawl, plus proper protection.
Drive health and storage
Checking the drive for errors, freeing space, and telling you early if an SSD upgrade would help.
Backup check
Confirming your important files actually are backed up, and setting it up if they aren't.
Cooling and physical check
Fan, vents and temperatures checked, with dust and thermal issues flagged before they cause shutdowns.
Browser speed
Toolbars and junk extensions removed, search and homepage hijacks undone, and the cache cleared so pages load quickly again.
Gaming performance
Graphics drivers updated, Game Mode set up, and in-game settings matched to your hardware so background apps stop eating frames.

Step 2: We clean, update and check
Remotely for software work, or on-site or at the workshop when hardware needs looking at.
Step 3: You get a plain report
What we found, what we fixed, and what (if anything) is worth upgrading or replacing.

Computer Maintenance FAQs
How often should a computer be serviced?
A tune-up every year or so keeps most home computers healthy, and sooner if it's slowing down, overheating or throwing errors. Business machines benefit from a check twice a year.
How much does a computer tune-up cost in Ottawa?
Speed optimization starts at $40, with a free assessment first. If it turns out to need an SSD or more RAM, we'll show you the options and costs before doing anything.
What actually causes a slow computer?
Usually startup bloat, programs running in the background, a nearly full drive, missed updates and adware. Sometimes it's hardware: an old spinning hard drive or too little RAM. A tune-up fixes the first group, and we'll tell you honestly if it's the second.
Is the Windows 11 upgrade worth it, and can you check if my PC can run it?
For most people, yes. Windows 10 stopped getting regular security updates in October 2025. Home users can still get security fixes until October 12, 2027 through Microsoft's Extended Security Updates, which is free with a Microsoft account, so there's time to do it properly. We check whether your PC meets the Windows 11 requirements as part of the free assessment, back up your files, and do the upgrade with a tune-up. If the PC can't run Windows 11, we'll tell you honestly whether it's worth upgrading parts or replacing it.
Can you improve gaming performance too?
Yes. We update graphics drivers, set up Game Mode, adjust GPU settings and stop background apps from eating resources.
Do you tune up both Windows PCs and Macs?
Yes, both. Startup clean-up, freeing up storage and performance tuning work on either one.
Will a tune-up make my old computer fast again?
Often, yes. But if the drive is the bottleneck, an SSD upgrade is what really transforms an older computer. We'll tell you which it is.
Can you do maintenance remotely?
Yes. Most software maintenance is done over a secure remote session. Hardware checks such as fans and dust need a visit or a drop-off.
Do you offer maintenance for small businesses?
Yes. We do regular check-ins across an office's machines, billed for the time used, with no monthly contract. See business IT support.
