MacBook Air & MacBook Pro Repair

Every MacBook model, Intel and Apple silicon. Free diagnosis, and you get the price before any work starts.

MacBook Air Repair

Cracked or black MacBook Air screens (often from closing the lid on something), batteries that no longer last the day, a full 256 GB drive slowing everything down, and sticky or failing keys on 2018–2020 models. Apple silicon Airs (M1 and later) have no fan, so slowdowns are usually storage or software, not heat.

MacBook Pro Repair

Loud fans and heat on Intel MacBook Pros, display backlight faults on 2016–2018 models, unresponsive butterfly keyboards, swollen batteries lifting the trackpad, and Pros that won't boot after a macOS update. We diagnose first and give you the options before anything is ordered.

MacBook Screen Repair

Cracked glass, lines, flicker or a black display on any MacBook Air or Pro. We check whether it's the panel or the display cable, then quote for your exact model, including an honest comparison with Apple's own repair price.

Storage upgrades

Mac and iMac SSD Upgrades

An older iMac or Mac mini still running on a hard drive or Fusion Drive is usually slow because of that drive, and replacing it with an SSD is the biggest speed-up it will ever get. On iMacs from 2012 onwards the display is glued in place and has to come off to reach the drive, which is careful work done with the right tools, with the display resealed afterwards.

Many 2013 to 2017 MacBook Air and Retina MacBook Pro models, and earlier MacBooks, also have replaceable storage and can take a larger SSD. Apple silicon Macs and other models with storage soldered to the board can't be upgraded; for those we set up a fast external SSD or iCloud properly instead. Either way, your files are moved across and macOS is checked before the Mac comes back to you.

macOS troubleshooting

macOS Troubleshooting in Ottawa

Most Mac problems we see are software, not hardware: a macOS update that stalled halfway, a startup disk that's full, login items piling up, iCloud fighting with a local folder, or adware that got in through a fake browser update. These are fixable in one session, often remotely, and they don't require a trip to an Apple Store or a wait for a Genius Bar appointment.

When it is hardware, we diagnose it first and give you the options before anything is ordered: a worn MacBook battery, a failing drive in an older iMac, a damaged keyboard or display. If your files are at risk, we get them off first through data recovery, and if a slow Mac only needs a clean-up, our tune-up service covers Macs as well as PCs. Windows laptops are covered on our laptop repair page.

Common questions

Mac Repair FAQs

How much does Mac repair cost in Ottawa?

Mac repairs start at $40. The diagnosis is free, you get the price before any work starts, and if we can't fix a software problem, you don't pay.

Do you repair MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, and iMac?

Yes. We work on every MacBook model, the iMac and the Mac mini, including macOS problems, slow Macs and startup failures.

Can you fix a Mac that won't turn on or is stuck on a loading screen?

Often, yes. We regularly fix spinning beach balls, question-mark folders on startup, kernel panics, black or gray screens, and macOS update failures.

Can you replace my MacBook battery?

We start by checking the battery's health and cycle count in macOS, which tells us whether the battery is actually worn out or something else is draining it. Then we give you the honest options and cost for your model, including whether an Apple Store service is the better route, before anything is done.

How much does a MacBook screen repair cost?

It depends on the model. On most current MacBook Air and MacBook Pro models the display is replaced as a complete lid assembly, so it costs more than a typical Windows laptop panel. The diagnosis is free: we first confirm whether it's the display itself or its cable, then give you the exact cost for your model, and tell you plainly if an Apple Store repair works out better, before anything is ordered.

Can you upgrade my Mac's SSD or replace an iMac hard drive?

On models with replaceable storage, yes: older Intel iMacs and Mac minis with a hard drive or Fusion Drive, many 2013 to 2017 MacBook Air and Retina MacBook Pro models, and earlier MacBooks with standard drives. On Apple silicon Macs and other models where the storage is soldered to the board, it can't be upgraded, and we'll set up fast external storage instead. Send us the model and year and we'll confirm.

My Mac is slow. Do I need a new one?

Usually not. Most slow Macs are short on storage, running old login items and background apps, or stuck on a half-finished macOS update. A clean-up and tune-up starts at $40, and if the Mac is genuinely too old for current macOS, we'll tell you that instead of selling you work it won't benefit from.

Can you get my files off a Mac that won't start?

Often, yes. A Mac that won't boot frequently still has readable data. We try recovery mode and target-disk methods first, and if the storage itself has failed, our data recovery service takes over. Your files come first, before any repair that could put them at risk.

Do you come to me for Mac help?

Yes. Most macOS and Apple ID problems can be fixed over a secure remote session, and we also do in-home and office visits across Ottawa, or you can drop the Mac at our Croydon Ave workshop by appointment.

Do you help with Apple ID or iCloud problems?

Yes. Apple ID sign-in problems, iCloud not syncing, backup setup and Find My Mac are all things we handle.
